I believe that Nigeria will attain its destiny as the largest and most powerful black industrial democracy. Africa will not make it without Nigeria. So we must believe…

I believe in the Nigeria that will define her own path, her way, in pursuit of the development of socially responsible institutions backed by individuals with integrity.

Nigeria craves economic success and social organisation, but above all she craves an architecture of power and socio-economic development which brings real happiness to the greatest number of her people.

I believe the re-birth of Nigeria has already begun. Amidst what can sometimes appear a pervasive despondency, fundamental work is being done by serious minded people to bring into being the New Nigerian Social Order.

I yearn for this New Nigeria. A land of justice and fair play where opportunity abounds for all and effortless achievement is discredited. A land where all persons are accorded equal validity and none accorded unearned ascendancy.

I yearn for the New Nigeria where we have cast off the seeds of suspicion, and destroyed the demon of divisiveness amongst us. I yearn for this New Nigeria which believes in herself and is ready to assume a place of pride among the comity of nations.
